Jennifer Uchendu

Jennifer Uchendu is a climate activist and founder of SustyVibes, a youth-led and youth focused organisation leading sustainability advocacy and implementation in Nigeria. Recently, Jennifer’s work has focused on climate change and mental health where she is exploring safeguarding and support systems for Africans through research, advocacy and community action. Jennifer has a Masters degree in Development Studies from the Institute of Development Studies, UK under the Chevening Scholarship. Her work on Climate Change and Mental Health has been cited in multiple publications and has often necessitated the need to integrate power into conversations of climate change and health. In 2023, Jennifer was named as one of the BBC 100 Women for her work on Climate Change and Mental Health. 

She is also an alumnus of the Cambridge Institute For Sustainability Leadership and the Lagos Business School. In 2017, Jennifer co-authored the e-book: “A Guide to Business Sustainability in Nigeria.”

Jennifer Uchendu is the founder of SustyVibes, a youth-led organisation making sustainability actionable, relatable and cool for young people. Jennifer’s recent work has focused on exploring the impacts of the climate crisis on the mental health of Africans, especially young people. In 2022, she set up The Eco-Anxiety Africa project  (TEAP) as a flagship project focused on safeguarding climate emotions in Africans through research, advocacy and climate-aware psychotherapy.
